So when someone touts how important their white race is to their identity, or how proud they are of it, and people object, that it's the wrong thing to focus on, you think they're objecting to the existence of white people?
- watwut 6y agoHave you read while comment your parent responds to? Cause that comments did not take issue with people being too proud of "alternative sexual identity". Instead, it calls them cancer and wish that "Pandora box" would be closed.
- MikeUt 6y ago> the seemingly endless amount of personal effort people put into 'alternate sexual identities' .. similar to a cancer It reads to me like the poster is calling the effort cancer, not the identities themselves. The HN guidelines ask us to take the most charitable interpretation. If it's unclear, the least we could do would be to ask for clarification, instead of using their poor wording as a means to score cheap rhetorical points.
- klyrs 6y ago"Wide eyed and run away"... "like a cancer, to me"... "keep pandora's box closed"... no. OC was very consistent throughout that paragraph. The intention was made very clear through repetition, and demanding a "charitable" interpretation of calling discussion of race, sex, and gender identities a "cancer" is disingenuous.
- bloqs 6y agoThe choice of the word cancer, given the sensitivity of the subject matter is one of the issues here. It approached the discussion like surgeon with a sledgehammer.
