  I'd be really interested in hearing why people have downvoted this. Is it just a "LinkedIn bad" mentality or is there something else? I think this is pretty good advice honestly, I have had some great opportunities pitched to me by recruiters from LinkedIn.

    I didn't downvote, but people seem to get wildly different recruiter experiences on LinkedIn. I hear of people getting flooded by FAANG recruiters, but I typically only get recruiters for low paying contracts, in places I'd rather not move back to for projects that seem very dysfunctional and either way above or below my professional level.

      That's definitely not my experience. I've had a few recruiters contact me for jobs wildly mismatched from my experience or my expectations but I've also had some reach out for stuff really aligned with what I'm looking for. Really it's about at the same ratio I would find jobs I'm interested in on job boards so I'm fine with it.
