Yep, they blew up the "only inland site in Australia showing human occupation continuing through the last Ice Age" [1]. "Even going through and doing excavations in those areas; to find the plaited hair and the artefacts and how they have been dated back to over 46,000 years — it's something we will always remember."   theconversation.com is speaking loosely - it is the only known inland site. That is different from being the only inland site. The Pilbara is very large and the Aboriginals have visited a lot of it over the last 46,000 years. It will be riddled with ancient sites, which nobody cares about. The only reason they even bothered to look was because it was in an ore-rich area.

While Native American rights seem more than enough reason to deny the government granting the land, it is a travesty that it's our last line of defense against the inevitable destruction Rio Tinto would bring.
