Free ePub books from the Open University on mutiple topics
- herodotus 6y agoJust be warned that embedded video and audio is not supported in these ebooks. Both the books I tried have embedded content. The message I see is this: “Video content is not available in this format.”
- TrueDuality 6y agoLooks like the server needs to be updated. I am in a more restrictive environment but I'm not able to access the site as that server is using an unsafe protocol negotiation method.
- nprateem 6y agoIt looks like the data's corrupted too. There's one book on the front page called "Ymarfer corff ac iechyd meddw". Unless it's some kind of crypto challenge.
- mbg721 6y agoNope, just in Welsh. Sounds like it's about health effects of exercise and drinking?
- IndySun 6y agoPriceless!

- kome 6y agoLOL! I don't know if it was intentional or unintentional comedy and it makes it even better
- mellosouls 6y agoFor any motoring fans here the parent comment reminds me of the legendary Pistonheads thread. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=519297 https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=519297
- ajfjrbfbf 6y agoAll ePubs are free on Library Genesis.
- kleer001 6y agooh gosh, that's wonderful, thank you so much!
- mellosouls 6y agoAnd pirated. The OP is a legit site.
- shadowprofile77 6y agoOh my gosh, pirated!? You don't say!? I mean, how awful having workarounds of the entirely fair, completely balanced and decent system of laws that currently govern copyright in the U.S and much of the world....
- mellosouls 6y ago"workarounds": i.e. illegal and the time and energy of the authors taken with no recompense. And in this case undermining an admirable institution dedicated to improving the lives of those less privileged. At least be honest about the subject in your choice of words.
- ASalazarMX 6y agoPiracy should be the last resource, but I confess I've pirated all books I've read that were written by politicians. Feels like the fair thing to do.
- ku-man 6y agoThe is a "Janis Joplin and the sexual revolution" course, interesting...
- reaperducer 6y agoLinked page is not mobile-friendly, but at least the search results are. But I just wanted to see what it has on Shakespeare. To view the search results I have to tell it my location and let it set a bunch of cookies. Clicking the X to dismiss the modal does nothing. Different definition of "open" than I expected.
- leavenotracks 6y agoOpen in the sense that anyone can pay to take their courses
- jimnotgym 6y agoThe creator of the pagination is after the heart of hn readers. Page 0 of 98!
- dang 6y agoLists, especially long lists, don't make great HN submissions. HN itself is a list, so it's too much indirection: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&query=by%3Adang%20indirection&sort=byDate&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que... It would be better to pick one of the most interesting specific items from the list and submit that. If you submit the list, there isn't much to discuss other than the lowest common denominator of the list elements, which is usually too generic to be interesting. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&sort=byDate&type=comment&query=generic%20discussion%20by:dang https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&sor...
