Australia calls out Google for “experiment” blocking some news sites
- DarkWiiPlayer 6y agoCan someone explain this? Why should google pay "content creators" for directing users to said content?
- adsche 6y agoThat's not the whole story of what google does though, right? The other side of the medal: Google uses their content to stay relevant and make money off of ads.
- jqpabc123 6y agoI am definitely not a Google fan but this complaint is just a little absurd. They don't want Google to use their content. Fair enough, Google stops using their content. They complain again leaving one to conclude that what they really want is a cut of Google's revenue model --- amount to be set by them. Next stop, simply abandon the Australian market as unworkable --- which I'm sure will produce further complaints. At that point, perhaps Google can negotiate a payment to stay. I suggest half the amount of taxes Google currently pays in Australia --- payable to said content creators.
