Speaking from experience I have been very lucky to have found employers who have a strong emphasis on mental health, who understand that people need more than a paycheck to find work satisfying and who are actually supportive when people need it. It sounds like you are _not_ working for one of those employers, nor one who is prepared to spend a little more time on you. I too would suggest you search for alternative employment 'on the quiet' and focus on those employers with a proven track record of employee care.
