Ask HN: Where do you see Bitcoin in the next year? What about in five years?
I have an interview next week with a Bitcoin company, and although I am NOT going to ask them the above question it is in the back of my mind. I don't know much about Bitcoin, so I can't say how things will look in the future.
- arthurcolle 6y agoBitcoin will be worth 500,000 per coin within 18 months
- secfirstmd 6y agoThat would be an environmental disaster
- alwillis 6y agoNope—bitcoin is generally using excess energy or energy that would usually go to waste. Putting a data center next to a damn doesn't increase greenhouse gases. Bitcoin mining and the oil and gas industry are partnering for miners to use the energy that would normally be lost to flaring [1]. - secfirstmd 6y agoSorry, you actually believe that? We are drowning in greenhouse has emissions and you think Bitcoin mining is a useful thing to add to it?
- streetcat1 6y agoProbably going to zero.
- alwillis 6y agoProbably going to zero. Not with institutional investors with their hundreds of billions of dollars to invest.
- ur-whale 6y agoThis is - of course - impossible to say, and quite frankly, this question should not pop up in a job interview from either parties (interviewer or interviewee). One salient point though is a rather simple fact: supply is limited, and demand isn't - and unless a black swan event occurs, the price is likely going to continue to grow, as long as your investment horizon is >3/4 years.
