If that is really the case, it sounds a lot like Trump was the scapegoat here. What do they hope to achieve by impeaching Trump when his term is almost over and punishing him for the actions of extremists?
- lttlrck 6y agoHe said that today. One week later. It's great that he has said it but it doesn't undo what has happened.
- briefcomment 6y agoDoesn't mean he has to be impeached at this point.
- prohobo 6y agoI don't think there's a point in arguing about these things anymore. If people still don't get it, then it's unlikely they'll change their minds now. We're riding the wave whether we like it or not.
- briefcomment 6y agoAgreed. I do think moving on from the Trump administration will give people a chance to be mentally flexible again. The last four years greatly incentivized unwavering convictions, on both sides, probably beyond what was healthy.
- jimmydorry 6y agoHe also said it hours after the protest (that turned into a riot).
- briefcomment 6y agoHe's probably the biggest scapegoat of the 21st century so far, a la Girard
- kmos17 6y agoScapegoat?? When he has been spending the last 5 years claiming elections are rigged with 0 proof and inciting his followers to riot in a speech right before the capitol was attacked? the propaganda juice is flowing. The president directly incited insurrection, there should be consequences.
