A friendly reminder that if you enjoyed this article, please consider subscribing to LWN. It's an excellent news source and they employ people full time so need real money in order to survive.
Normally articles are restricted to subscribers initially, and are made available to everyone a week after being posted. But subscribers can make Subscriber Links that let non-subscribers read a specific article straight away. I've noticed a lot of subscriber links (like this one) posted to HN recently - there's nothing wrong with that but, again, please remember to subscribe if you like them.
- SEJeff 6y agoJonathan Corbet (the founder and head cheese @ lwn) is an exceedingly nice guy and as a result of all of his work, ended up as a maintainer of much of the linux kernel documentation. He's one of those real unsung heroes of linux and also does things like the "Linux Kernel Development Report". Super good people and very professional all around.
- psanford 6y agoI love that every year my LWN subscription expires and they don't auto renew it. Its such a nice way to treat your customers that differentiates LWN from most other media companies.
- hodgesrm 6y agoLWN is my favorite paid subscription of all time. It feels as if you are making the world a better place when you type in the credit card number to renew. I paid for another year just this morning, so the sensation is fresh.
- wyldfire 6y agoDo they have a bitcoin/monero donation address? I'd donate today.
