Why would they be against them? By now isn’t it widely recognized that body cams help police more than they restrict their behavior?
- olliej 6y agoIt's not about personal safety, it's about ensuring there is never any evidence that they did anything wrong. It's the same reason they * Forget to wear their bodycam * Forget to turn their body cam on * Forget to charge their body cam * Their body (and car) cam mysteriously malfunctions * There can be officers at the scene with working cameras, but mysteriously none of those officers are ever facing the scene. This is all routine. It doesn't matter if it ostensibly helps them, it also actively harms them due to their frequent excessive force, which is more common that legitimate harm to them.
- bradknowles 6y agoThe body cams should not have an off button. So there should be no way to forget to turn them on. And having them be off or otherwise mysteriously malfunctioning should end up in an assumption of guilt on the part of the officer. After all, if they’re not doing anything wrong, then they have nothing to fear. Right?
