Would Twitter/FB have lived up to these standards early on? It seems like any new social platform could be pretty easily crushed under these standards. So the only way we will see a new social media platform is if they build their own data centers, and can grow without having an app. And maybe they need their own browser, maybe client hardware like phones and tablets? It seems unlikely that a startup would succeed under these conditions. So we better be happy with our current overlords (and whatever humans happen to be in charge of those companies in the future).
