Experts do exist but I think many alleged experts often give into the temptation to use the expertise in their field to represent expertise in a field in which they cannot claim the same level of expertise. This is my opinion because I’ve experienced the temptation to do just that many times and I’ve witnessed instances where that has happened as well. I don’t think this behavior is limited to people who have expertise in any field but it might be most damaging when experts do commit that logical fallacy.
