Why does it need the "extreme" adjective?
From the Googles:
> the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
Is there any question that's what happened here? It's too bad that we have to worry about "turning off" some sensitive people whose feelings will be hurt if we call a spade a spade, but it sure doesn't feel like appeasing them has done much good, either.
Again, is there any question, whatsoever, that violence and intimidation were used here, in the pursuit of political aims? They 100% want to put the fear of violence into legislators in order to get their way.
- mainstreem 6y agoI'm fine with this if we can agree that this is the same thing Antifa-BLM has been doing in countless cities, most notably Portland and Seattle where they attack Federal buildings and civilian homes and business almost nightly "in the pursuit of political aims", is the same thing.
- tuesdayrain 6y agoBy this definition, many antifa and BLM rioters are also terrorists. It's interesting how hesitant the media was to describe them that way.
- InitialLastName 6y agoI might have missed it, but I didn't see any reports of pipe bombs at the BLM protests.
- tuesdayrain 6y agoSo reports of pipe bombs that never went off is more terrorizing than 2 billion dollars worth of damage? (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8740609/Rioting-140-cities-George-Floyds-death-cost-insurance-industry-2-BILLION.html https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8740609/Rioting-140...)
- distrill 6y agoyes, of course explosives are more terrorizing than property damage. wtf
- tuesdayrain 6y agoIt's not like "property damage" just means a few buildings get damaged in a vacuum. It was massive amounts of arson, civil unrest, injuries, at least 6 deaths. These things definitely terrorize people on a similar (if not greater) level. Considering people located near the blm/antifa riots also had to fear bombings. There were actual explosives going off, not just reports like at the capitol.
- kortilla 6y agoSo what’s the definition of a terrorist then? “Politically motivated violence and has a pipe bomb”?
- cptnapalm 6y agoThere were loads of reports of thrown explosives in Seattle. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/25/us/seattle-protest-riot/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/25/us/seattle-protest-riot/index...
- Pfhreak 6y agoThe SPD took a picture of a candle and called it a thrown explosive. They also blamed last week's events on BLM and several officers participated in the Capitol Riot and are on admin leave. There miiiiight be a bit of a bias in that dept.
- cptnapalm 6y agoThere have just been mob attacks, hurling explosives, Molotov cocktails and trying to blind people with lasers. Then there were the shootings. Candles do not blow through the wall of a police precinct. Please provide a link for the officers "participat[ing] in the Capitol Riot". Or is the truth that they are on leave because they attended a protest?
- distrill 6y agoWhat media? That's exactly how fox news, oan, newsmax and donald trump talk about BLM.
- blisterpeanuts 6y agoCan you cite an example of Donald Trump or any of those news sources calling BLM a terrorist organization, or an organization that has some terrorists in it? I haven't seen that word used. "Criminal", "thug", "looter", "rioter", yes, but not "terrorist".

- kortilla 6y agoBut BLM had political motivations as well. Should we have labeled any of the people participating in violence as terrorists as well?
- karakot 6y agoyou can label these people as terrorists or looters, they don't represent the whole BLM movement. Same with republicans we don't label republican party as a terrorist party even if some members of the party are terrorists.
