I guess you could store images as base64 encoded text in the Web SQL database, then create the images using the data: protocol. However, not sure you could fit many images in as the file size would be higher.

You would be able to fit a decent number of images in. The maximum database size on iOS for a Web SQL database is 50MB if I'm not mistaken.

  Yes you would. Right, thats by sunday afternoon project taken care of, a transparent write-through HTTP cache using web SQL in javascript. Awesome.
