I sometimes wonder how I would feel if my deliberate lies caused so many deaths.
Maybe the profit would make up for the pain - or one could indulge in a fantasy that the destruction would ultimately improve the human condition.
If my illusions were broken - even for a second - I would certainly die of shame.
