Text Encryption Based on Glider in the Game of Life (2016)
- jagged-chisel 6y agoMy take away is those logic gates. I recently looked into a GoL for a toy project, knowing that it's "Turing complete" in the hopes that it could "run software." I came away a little disappointed that no one has yet created a fully-capable machine to run some kind of code. This gives me new hope...

- failrate 6y agoOne interesting thing about certain CA is that they bear a very close equivalence to certain pseudo RNG systems like shift register. E.g. GoL on a constrained grid with the starting state equal to the seed.
- skulk 6y agoTitle misled me to expect a novel encryption algorithm inspired by gliders/CAs. It's actually an glider-based implementation of the one-time pad. Having played around in GOL for a significant amount of time, I find it impressive but not very interesting compared to the Tetris implementation[1].
