Electric cars hit record 54% of sales in Norway as VW overtakes Tesla
- gamblor956 6y agoFrom the article: VW sold more than twice as many Teslas. 7754 ID3s and 9227 (Audi) etrons. The Model 3 narrowly beat the ID3 with 7770 sales. And this is just the first major automaker to enter the EV market in force with non-compliance vehicles.
- mardiyah 6y agoImho all should have been saved by buying China's ones instead, with full availabilities
- tested23 6y agoMind elaborating?
- mardiyah 6y agoI've been just impressed by Nio and Xpeng skyrocket development and success
- gamblor956 6y agoLA once made the mistake of buying Chinese EVs (specifically, BYD) for its Metro bus system. Literally none of the buses were still roadworthy within a year. It turns out we weren't the only transportation agency to make that mistake; every American transportation agency that has purchased BYD vehicles has terminated its contract with BYD and most agencies are seeking refunds for failure to deliver under contract. https://www.thetransitwire.com/2018/05/22/problems-plague-byd-electric-buses/ https://www.thetransitwire.com/2018/05/22/problems-plague-by...

- mft_ 6y agoThis will probably be interpreted by many (and the media) as a downside for Tesla, but IIRC one of Tesla’s stated goals has always been to drive the entire marketplace towards electric vehicles. In this sense, they have succeeded beyond most people’s expectations.
- vardump 6y agoI don't see any downside for a company that sells everything it produces pretty much immediately, with just 1-2 weeks of inventory. With that strong demand it's pretty sensible to sell the cars near where they manufactured. We can only truly gauge demand for Tesla in Europe once Giga Berlin production starts at full steam.
- ryzvonusef 6y agoI wonder if, once the berlins factory starts producing...will tesla recover its groove?
- erik_seaberg 6y ago> The country has 10,000 publicly available charging points, according to the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association. Not much for five million people. More relevant is that over 80% are homeowners, and I assume they have garages where they can plug in.
