There are many conflicting explanations about the current phenomenon and some of them talk about the role of the solid and relatively secure middle class that has lost something intangible, a sense of hope for the future, identity in other words. The more I try to read and understand the less clear it seems. But it’s safe to say any single minded narrative is probably too simplistic and doesn’t fully explain the whole reality.
