Is it just my impression that pretty much all sites except youtube/fb/twitter have difficulties with video?
A lot of times video struggles to start, buffers for a long time, stutters, .... I'm not talking about small blogs, but about sites like CNN, WaPo, ...
- erichocean 6y agoIt has to do with not having edge nodes. In theory, Cloudflare is in a good position to address this disparity…

- rasz 6y agoYou skipped the most popular video serving platforms - pr0n companies. Also no problems there, everything works smoothly.
- ksec 6y agoYes. Not only that but fast forward, backwards, skipping. Crash with Javascript. High CPU loading because some other JS is messing with the Video in a way that shouldn't be. etc etc. Someone on HN asked me what's wrong with HTML5 video. I forgot to reply as I was gathering examples and informations.
- selfhoster11 6y agoNews sites are notoriously resource-heavy. Small blogs have no issue with embedded <video> tag videos.
