A Gallows and a Guillotine are different symbols, and France doesn't have the same prolific and recent history of lynchings that the USA does (AFAIK). The equivalence you draw here is false.
- malandrew 6y agoThe only difference as far as I can tell is the chosen method of execution for a country. Gallows have been the standard for execution in the US like guillotines were the standard in France. Lynchings typically didn't employ gallows, they most often employed trees. The commonality between them was that both involved nooses.
