Remember “If you don’t like Twitter’s rules, you are perfectly free to make your own platform”?
I suppose we are perfectly free to make our own pocket computers now, right?
- CraigRood 6y agoThese platforms exist for the purpose of capturing content that has been “deplatformed”. >Speak freely and express yourself openly, without fear of being “deplatformed” for your views. Engage with real people, not bots. Parler is people and privacy-focused, and gives you the tools you need to curate your Parler experience. Parler frontpage. They have no intention of creating a real alternative to Twitter. Lets be honest here, It's not like you can't have a conversation on Twitter either if your views are alternative. It's their hateful, harmful and offensive comments that will get them "deplatformed".
- guscost 6y agoYou are twisting yourself into a logical pretzel to avoid answering. And no, harmful content does not get you deplatformed if it harms the right people: https://twitter.com/chineseembinus/status/1347247602094534658 https://twitter.com/chineseembinus/status/134724760209453465...

- jseliger 6y agoI suppose we are perfectly free to make our own pocket computers now, right? To be fair, there are legitimate efforts underway to do just that: https://puri.sm/products/librem-5/ https://puri.sm/products/librem-5/. More broadly, almost any unmoderated platform will, over time, degenerate. In real life, people tend to self-segregate by individual and community, and laws do delineate limits on speech (for example: the classic, "You can't yell 'fire' in a crowded theater)"): https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/freedom-speech/ https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/freedom-speech/
- layoutIfNeeded 6y agoWhile you’re at it, you should create your own payment processor too, because Mastercard and Visa will refuse to accept payments for your racist pocket computers.
- 0xy 6y agoDon't forget to create your own bank, because banks have begun engaging in deplatforming for political reasons as well.
