Conspiracy theory: Intel is using their deeper pockets to buy up TSMC fab capacity in an effort to slow AMD production. Doing so gets them breathing room to improve their own manufacturing process before TSMC can bring on enough capacity to serve both of them fully.

- dogma1138 6y agoThe pockets aren’t deep enough... TSMC knows Intel is a competitor which AMD isn’t so any deal they’ll sign will be temporary at best. They aren’t exactly struggling to find customers as every wafer they have is spoken for 6 times over. If anything at least as far as TSMC goes Intel would have to pay through the nose for any capacity.
