Apple threatens to ban Parler unless they start censoring content
- howmayiannoyyou 6y agoLooks like I won't be getting rid of my android phone anytime soon if this is true.
- OCASM 6y agoProbably won't be long before Google starts applying similar pressure.
- URfejk 6y agoSad, but probably true.
- Acrobatic_Road 6y agoOn android you have the liberty to install 3rd party apps.
- Andrew_nenakhov 6y agowithout push notifications they are severely limited in functionality, and third party push notifications are severely underperforming on Androids.
- OCASM 6y agoSure enough, they outright banned it.
- beefee 6y agoWe are seeing an emerging system of privatized sanctions enacted by a collusive tech oligopoly. Safari allows people to view any content they want on the Web. I wonder if they will ever move to only allowing users to go to specifically allowed websites?
- erichocean 6y agoIt's not tolerant to tolerate intolerance, it's suicidal. Insurrectionists don't like it? They can build their own internet, their own web browsers, their own mobile phones, cell towers, power generation, power lines, etc. It's a free country. But we all know they can't do any of that. So yeah: don't expect peaceful, civil people (aka Democrats) to help Trump's insurrectionists crash the system and overthrow the government.
- bmarquez 6y ago> It's not tolerant to tolerate intolerance. If I find your views intolerable, what happens now?
- erichocean 6y agoWell, you could always storm the Capitol again and try to overthrow the government.
- razius 6y agoWhat happens if peaceful, civil people think the insurrectionists crashed the system, overthrowed the government and installed Biden?
- Acrobatic_Road 6y agoWe're just going to cut to the chase and build our own country.
- erichocean 6y agoYour guy couldn't even build a wall, so good luck with that.
- Acrobatic_Road 6y agoIt's not a trump thing. And its already happening. People are seceding from the media, corporations, monetary system, education system, and government (but not provacatively).
- erichocean 6y agoWhy would anyone expect Apple to distribute an app that allows insurrectionists (read: domestic terrorists) to organize? Apple is not the government and has no obligation to support enemies of the state. To downvoters: Parler was literally founded by one of the insurrectionists (Dan Bongino). He also helped found Rumble, a YouTube "alternative". Also, Apple already banned Gab, which has basically the same audience/purpose as Parler.
- glarkdon 6y agoPeople who wish to stand up for fair elections are not terrorists.
- razius 6y agoThis is after Twitter banned a large amount of conservative accounts so they are forced to move to Parler.
- Acrobatic_Road 6y agoWe need to end the app store monopoly and break up big tech. When people's voices are silenced violence becomes inevitable.
- razius 6y agoI'm afraid it's too late, the democrats have won and they don't have such interest.
- LatteLazy 6y agoThey already censor, Apple just wants them to censor differently...
