Ask HN: Consultants/Contractors, how do you incorporate paid sick leave?
Do some consultants/contractors (working flexible hours) incorporate a paid sick leave? How common is it?
One way I was thinking is to bill for half days (or half of an average hours per day).
- eyx 6y agoIt would be a clause on a contract to be paid a given amount when sick (and thus not working) ? I'm rewriting it because it seems so uncommon that it may be that I didn't understood your question.
- zerr 6y agoCorrect. Yes, I also wonder if anyone does this, for flex/hourly billing that is.
- fiftyacorn 6y agoWouldn't your rate account for this already?
- alltakendamned 6y agoYou don’t, you calculate it as part of your day rate. Bill in half day increments. If you need to justify your presence to a boss, you’re not a contractor but an employee without benefits.
