This deprecation makes no sense, just because you want to use HTTPS should not mean you remove the ability for others to use HTTP. There are many things HTTPS (and HTTP/2+3 or websockets for that matter) can't do, the energy use is not an issue now as long as money is "free" and there still is stored sunrays in the ground, but eventually everything will use HTTP/TCP again. I for one do my own security over HTTP and I save alot of time/energy doing it!
