What'd “quantum-secured communication” (also of quantum phrased) mean?
- gus_massa 6y agoThere are a few real things with similar names, but I'm not sure if they are exactly what you are looking for. (And there is a lot of marketing fake thing with similar names ) Do you have a link to a page that use this terms?
- mardiyah 6y ago"The Beijing-Shanghai Backbone Network (BSBN), the world’s first long-distance quantum-secured communication route, was put into service on Aug. 30. It links the two cities with a highly-reliable and expandable secure communication expressway" http://english.cas.cn/newsroom/archive/news_archive/nu2017/201703/t20170324_175288.shtml http://english.cas.cn/newsroom/archive/news_archive/nu2017/2... and some others for now I remember: quantum-cognition brain just google, bet their occurrences will be increasing in next weeks
- gus_massa 6y ago> “On the basis of the original fiber line, we utilized quantum key technology to give every message a unique encryption, and then transferred [the messages] through the traditional communication network,” said CHEN Yu’ao, a professor from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and also Chief Designer of BSBN. That's probably real. You can create a pair of entangled photons in a lab, send one to another lab using an optic fiber, and if you use a polarizer to see if the photon pass it, will get the same result in both labs. If you arrange everything carefully, you have a 50% chance that the photons will pass in both labs, and a 50% chance that the photons will not pass in any lab. (Ignoring noise, error, and other nasty real life problems.) The main idea is that the pass/no-pass decision is not made at the creation time of the pair of photons. It is made when you use the polarizer in any lab to measure them. So it is not possible for someone else to see the photon during the transmission, make a copy, and send the original photon or the copied photon. So you are safe from MITM at acts.[1] So you get one bit that is generated in both labs and quantum mechanics assures that no one else has a copy. If you generate more bits, you can use it as a one time pad for an encrypted communication. More details in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_cryptography https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_cryptography Every time you see quantum and brain in the same sentence, you can be sure it is bullshit. You can cite me. (Penrose proposed the idea that consciousness is related to quantum effects, but nah.) (Also see https://xkcd.com/1240/ https://xkcd.com/1240/ ) There are some quantum local effects in molecules. To have a global quantum effect in someone of the size of the brain, it must be very cold, like almost 0K cold. Otherwise the noise is so high that it shadows all the global quantum effects. [1] Or to be more precise, if someone MITM that you can detect it. The idea is that you can measure the polarization in the official directions and get the same result that they get in the other lab. Or you can measure the polarization in other directions. If the direction is very similar you most of the time get the same result, but there is a small chance that you get a different result. But the amount of times you get a different result is different if you have a pair of entangled photons or if someone has measured it and make a fake photon with that direction.
- mardiyah 6y agoHow can you be such in quantum !? Guys akin like you have very bright and promising future, while I can only be jealous
- gus_massa 6y agoThanks! I have a PhD in Math and also the ~60% of a major in Physics. I usually recommend to attend the classes in a university, but sometimes if you have a family and a full time job it is very difficult. (That's the reason of my missing 40% major in Physics.) Many universities have the material for the classes online, so you can try to study it. Don't skip the initial classes for Classic Physics, they are important to understand how the Physicist think. Also, don't skip the Math classes, because Quantum Mechanics without Math is only unintelligible handwaving. So, assuming you can't study Physics full time, this is a 5 year project. It's not easy, it's not short, but it is a fun one. (There are also some crash curses that teach directly the "important" facts about Quantum Mechanics. I always think they are just a collection of rules that seam arbitrary unless you learn also all the other 90% part that is not in the curses.)
