Bay Area hospitals slammed by Covid-19 surge: ‘The E.R. is full’
- x86_64Ubuntu 6y agoNot surprising. I was wondering when the Christmas surge was going to hit our medical system. Only problem is that with a full ER, folks that could have survived with minimal care end up dying or deteriorating because all the beds are full and because the staff is overworked.
- pmiller2 6y agoIsn't it obvious when the surge would happen? Cases spike about 10 days after the precipitating events. Deaths spike about 3 weeks after the event, so, we'll be seeing a huge increase in deaths in about 2 weeks.
- redis_mlc 6y agoLooks legit using the official hospital status link: https://www.sccgov.org/sites/covid19/Pages/dashboard-hospitals.aspx https://www.sccgov.org/sites/covid19/Pages/dashboard-hospita... FYI: for most of 2020, the SV ICUs were almost empty (seemingly unknown to HN readers), so this is a real tsunami of admissions.
