  When you mine Bitcoins, there is a reward. To constrain supply, Bitcoin's algorithm cuts that reward in half approximately every 4 years. This reduces the increase in supply. Prior bubbles have correlated with these "halvenings", typically about a year or so later. (2012/2013, 2016/2017, 2020/2021)
