I do agree with you, but let's add:
3. dealing with spam is a massive PITA
- Avamander 6y agoMost of spam problems could be solved if mail software came with sane defaults. Sane rate-limits, sane IP reputation, sane security rules, some backscatter protection. Something. Most setups are so widely open because good configuration is arcane knowledge.
