(Working on a Mint competitor) It's great to see Mint making improvements, since they were basically the first player in this space and really set the standard... but hadn't evolved much in years. I still think they'll be handicapped by their business model and their existing product. The article touches on this a little bit, but free and supported by ads / data just makes it really hard to build a great product. And most of the newer competitors are experimenting with subscriptions/etc.
