I have an empty Facebook profile and use Whatsapp all the time. The friend suggestions on Facebook that I get are complete strangers. I don't know how this works but none of my Whatsapp contacts ever appear as suggestions and none of the suggestions are people I ever knew. I don't know how I managed this.
