Jim Keller Becomes CTO at Tenstorrent
- ksec 6y agoIntel has just published a news release on its website stating that Jim Keller has resigned from the company, effective immediately, due to personal reasons. Intel’s press release today states that Jim Keller is leaving the position on June 11th ( 2020 ) due to personal reasons. However, he will remain with the company as a consultant for six months in order to assist with the transition. [1] Six months later he took a new job. Some may want to look back at their comment on the subject. [2] [3] Still waiting for the Story between Jim and Gerard. - teruakohatu 6y agoI wonder what exactly Jim did during his last stint at Intel? An older article said... > As far as we understand, Jim’s goal inside Intel was to streamline a lot of the product development process on the silicon side, as well as providing strategic platforms though which future products can be developed and optimized to market. We also believe that Jim Keller has had a hand in looking at Intel’s manufacturing processes, as well as a number of future products. https://www.anandtech.com/show/15846/jim-keller-resigns-from-intel-effective-immediately https://www.anandtech.com/show/15846/jim-keller-resigns-from... Did he fail at whatever he attempted to do or did Intel fail him? I would guess the latter.
- 0xy 6y agoComplete speculation: Intel never gave him the autonomy to make any changes that mattered, resulting in a clash and a forced exit. Intel's CEO needs to go yesterday. I can't believe he's still there.
- IanCutress 6y agoJim had a substantial family reason for abruptly leaving Intel. The sort of reason where you literally drop everything.
- 0xy 6y agoFair enough, I always assume "family/personal reasons" is a cover unless details are provided. Companies don't tend to make internal power struggles public.
- gotem 6y agoGreat hiring move. As someone familiar with Tenstorent after reading that article, I’d just like to say that I agree that the critical members of the company all have backgrounds in silicon design. Really excited to see where they go.
- akmittal 6y agoAs Microsoft is planning to make chips, would have loved to see him there.
