What an excellent piece. I think the discussion is missing something though. It is hard to form an artistic community in the middle of nowhere, since many artists work best in a community of collaborators. Is it realistic to move somewhere and expect others to follow? I still think what is required is a cheap urban center. Unfortunately, these are getting increasingly hard to find in the developed world.
