I know what you mean. However the one benefit of democracy is that there is at least, well at least meant to be, some rule of law and protection of civilian rights. If you look at China, super successful, but a dictatorship where they will just kill you if you are not agreeable to them. Invariably dictatorships devolve into what is in China, and other examples from years past. That’s a very scary world to live in.
