I've always thought privacy coins are not the clear cut win their are widely thought to be. Yes, on one hand it commoditizes the hiding of money and puts financial privacy in the hands of everyone. On the other hand, the more money you have to hide the more you benefit and since wealth is already grossly concentrated toward 0.1% of the worlds people, those without wealth have more to lose than to gain if that wealth is able to vanish from view even more easily than it alrady can.
