Ask HN: What have you done to keep finding interesting stuff on the internet?
- maxharris 6y agoI stopped reading and watching mainstream media. I have also cut my social media use down to just Twitter and Parler for just 30 min per day. Substack is wonderful.
- IThinkImOKAY 6y agoSigned back up for HN.
- vuciv1 6y agoHacker News, and signing up for people's newsletters when they write something good
- easterncalculus 6y agoIn addition to here I also find that going to conferences or spaces with like-minded people is a great way to find interesting things on the internet. I've found the most interesting online communities from people I know in real life. A lot of people are often more likely to talk about cool things than they are to post about them.
- distalx 6y agoI try to avoid filter bubble by doing following things. Not sure of its effectiveness though. I try to use services w/o sign in when it's possible (reddit, youtube, google). i prefer this kind of services more over services which constantly wants me to sign in. If some service requires sign in, and seems unavoidable then I try to limit my interactions on those platforms. (linkedin, facebook) Basically I try to provide least amount my preference or feedback to any platform thinking I would get the generic feed/content. And I prefer using a Browser over apps.
