This is a really cool visualisation! Took me a while to work it out though. I think it would be good to connect the children of a person to the parent's line (i.e. a short vertical line from the birth circle to the parent's line), and to highlight the direct decendents/ancestors of each person when their own line is highlighted (so it's easy to see the relationships).
