Whilst someone might (theoretically) have written the Great American Novel in his or her basement unbeknownst to pretty much anyone, a lot of art is fairly resource intensive and thus you can say with extremely high confidence that's its not being produced and the fault lies not with people not looking hard enough. Same with research and journalism.
