I often wonder this as well, is it a matter of unfamiliarity with control-theory stuff? Surely not as it’s fairly well known, or at least seems like you’d encounter it fairly quickly upon research. It seems to me that control theory would be fantastic for setting and automatically adjusting some of these parameters. Distributing the same PID params and model to each client would ensure consistent/predictable behaviour as well.
