- lawtalkinghuman 6y agoThe trollish Bitcoiner answer to every criticism: "you just jelly of my internet money".
- jokethrowaway 6y agoI definitely am! I can't believe btc got this far. I never bought anything because it sounds ridiculous and the kind of thing any western government would ban immediately - turns out I was wrong. I know people who are completely clueless about the economy who retired just by betting on BTC.
- Greed 6y agoThe difficulty in criticizing Bitcoin and what it could have been is that everyone willing to engage you on it is quite literally invested in being right. Zealots betting the house can't afford to be wrong because it would often make them bankrupt.
- altdatathrow 6y agoThe author of the post, Ray Dillinger <bear@sonic.net>, was involved in the bitcoin project alongside Satoshi at the very beginning: http://diswww.mit.edu/bloom-picayune/crypto/137799 http://diswww.mit.edu/bloom-picayune/crypto/137799 He's among a very small group of original authors. He quite literally bought into Bitcoin when it was just an idea.
- XW013K6 6y agoBought in and unfortunately sold out @ $1/BTC. At $30K/BTC it's a life of regrets left to live.
- dang 6y agoPlease don't break the site guidelines like this. For example, these: "Don't be snarky." "Please don't post shallow dismissals, especially of other people's work. A good critical comment teaches us something." https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- RustyRussell 6y agoNote that "Ray Dillinger" is a very early pseudonymous Bitcoiner, on par with Hal Finney. See https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/id-known-what-we-were-starting-ray-dillinger https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/id-known-what-we-were-startin...
