Is there a way to see medium.com posts without the login-wall?
Medium is awful - why do people choose to use it? I'd like to read this article, but it won't let it to me without signing up or installing an app. No thanks.
It would be nice if HN blocked articles that required installing an app or paying a subscription etc to view.

- jrockway 6y agoMedium's thing seems to give you a limited number of views per month. It is reset by deleting cookies / local storage. (I just use Incognito.)
- rgrau 6y agoIncognito mode works. There's this userscript I created a few days ago that can open the incognito window for you in those cases: https://gist.github.com/kidd/d53ca34477c45ee927105fc03b417973 https://gist.github.com/kidd/d53ca34477c45ee927105fc03b41797... . Not rocket science, but I'm happy with it so far

- u801e 6y ago> Is there a way to see medium.com posts without the login-wall? I've never encountered the login page for any article I've tried to read on medium.com. I wonder what triggers it?
- Shared404 6y agoI helped with determining that in a previous thread a while ago. IIRC, we decided it was blocking cookies that prevents it, with a side of blocking JS.
- csunbird 6y agohttps://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html The guidelines allow paywalled links (unfortunately, my opinion).
- littlestymaar 6y agoIt's either ublock origin, or the default tracking protection of Firefox but I have never witnessed the login-wall everybody complains about.
- ironmagma 6y ago> Medium is awful - why do people choose to use it? I used it recently because of two reasons - the network effect, and it is the best in its category that's available. A competing platform with as nice of typography and layout would be welcomed.
- akagr 6y agoYou can read unlimited premium stories on medium if you open stories via Twitter links. Just copy the story url and message that to yourself in Twitter. Open the story link it generates from there. This is an official feature of medium.
- mkranjec 6y agoThanks! Didn't know that, I usually just use incognito.
