I don't see how, in the presence of unrestricted function types, you can tag values as linear unless you have a separate kind for linear values. I'd be interested to know how Rust does it.

Affinity is a property of the type in Rust, so any given value is affine or not depending on which type it has.

  I see, and if you have a polymorphic type then presumably you get to know its affinity too?
