I'm wondering whether the first steps ought to be to make current driving much safer through automation - like detecting drunk driving, falling asleep, and such and limiting speed, refusing to start, alerting police and/or nearby vehicles etc. The lessons from that might better inform the long tail of cases that autonomous vehicles will eventually face?
- visarga 6y agoYeah, people won't buy 'crippled' car brands. Probably no manufacturer will dare be first.
- amanaplanacanal 6y agoI could picture legal requirements that cars check for say, alcohol consumption though. Then they wouldn’t have a choice.
