The net psychic cost of lockdowns might be more than if we'd taken the Swedish herd immunity route. We don't have a good way to account for such non tangible costs.

- Mediterraneo10 6y agoWhether the Swedish herd immunity route was a failure or not is completely subjective. If your highest priority is to prevent all deaths, then it was a failure. If you are comfortable accepting higher elderly mortality to keep public spaces open for young people, it was a perfectly fine policy and it was a pity for Sweden to be shamed by certain media and other countries into reversing it.
- yters 6y agoI wonder if it could have been modified to provide more protection for the elderly. In theory, herd immunity will be a safer outcome for the elderly.
