Ask hn: Whats stopping Google from removing unskippable ads from YouTube?
Is it due to user backlash, or doesnt make make much impact on revenue?
- tiernano 6y agoIt's money. Has to be. Why else would they annoy their users?!
- geoah 6y agoI’m actually amazed that google even has skippable ads. I would have expected them to have make all ads required and get it over with. There really doesn’t seem to be any alternatives to youtube, let alone a good one.
- chmaynard 6y agoIf the ads bother you, sign up for YouTube Premium. It's not that expensive and you will enjoy ad-free videos.
- netizen-9748 6y agoThe OP poses a simple question without implying what their own behavior is. The personal attack is not only entirely uncalled for but also appears totally off base.
- tiernano 6y agoYouTube premium ads are more of a pain in the ass too... every time I open the app, it asks to join YouTube premium. And there is no piss off button and it never remembers... fk off!!!
