But these conversations seem to be stirring up the reality that so much of compensation calculation and productivity measurement is really, really arbitrary. It still seems to come down to circumstance and whatever an employee manages to negotiate with their employer. "I'll take a 20% pay cut to work 4 days a week!" could just as easily be met with "No, our investors won't be happy with a longer roadmap."
