Please stop. Having underlying health conditions that make you less likely to survive COVID-19 does not mean that you were not killed by COVID-19.
We wouldn’t say that someone with peanut allergies was killed by the allergy — and not the peanut — so please just stop with this propaganda.
- black6 6y agoThe propaganda is what's being peddled on traditional media. Had the media been responsible in their reporting of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and how it predominantly affects those with multiple underlying health conditions, instead of inciting panic over a re-branded seasonal flu (influenza is a corona-type virus... look at a picture of it), the pandemic might never have occurred. Imagine if the news gave us accurate and actionable information: "I am a native Brazilian studying in Norway. I better supplement with 200 mcg cholecalciferol." "I am a teacher who is 5'4" and weighs 190 lbs. I will look to lose 15% of my poundage in three months so that I am less at risk when me state Department of Education makes me return to the classroom of 25 children three months from now." "I gained weight from stress eating and being cooped up indoors from a lockdown. I'm concentrating on a protein-heavy calorie-restricted diet until my adipose tissue offers a smaller attack surface and fewer ACE2 receptors for the virus which is surely waiting for me the moment I walk outside the confines of my abode."
- literallyWTF 6y agoI’ve always wondered how it must feel to literally be irony; claiming something is propaganda while spewing unfettered nonsense.
- helge9210 6y ago> Having underlying health conditions that make you less likely to survive COVID-19 does not mean that you were not killed by COVID-19. Dying is not "underlying health condition". Immune system collapse is happening before COVID-19 takes hold. If not for COVID, they would die from legionella, hospital infection, gum bacteria, flu, own E.coli and thousands of other causes. This is not my personal opinion, this is from report of medical representative in front of relevant Israeli parlament commission.
- DanBC 6y agoWhen people talk about "pre-existing conditions" they mean things like high blood pressure or type 1 diabetes -- the kind of thing that can be well maintained and has almost no impact on the person.
- marsdepinski 6y agoHilarious
- ketamine__ 6y agoHeart disease has no impact on the person? About 3,000 people die every day in the US because of this condition.
- DanBC 6y agoBut pre-existing conditions isn't only heart disease. It includes a long list, many of which can be well maintained and have no impact on the person's day to day life. https://twitter.com/profhelenward/status/1343883846568325122?s=20 https://twitter.com/profhelenward/status/1343883846568325122...
- dragontamer 6y agoHIV / AIDS doesn't kill anyone. Its the NEXT disease that kills you: all HIV does is kill off your white-blood cells and prevent your body from fighting off the next disease. ------------- Colloquially: when someone dies of a typical flu / cold when they were infected by AIDS, we call that "dying because of AIDS", even though AIDS had very little to do with the ultimate death of that person.
- sokoloff 6y agoIf a patient would have likely survived that flu “but for” AIDS, it seems to me that AIDS had quite a bit to do with that untimely death.
- txsoftwaredev 6y ago"Officials in Orange County, Florida have confirmed that a motor accident death was initially included into the coronavirus death toll. It was later struck off the list, but not until authorities were challenged by the media. Florida Department of Health in Orange County announced on Saturday that it no longer counts the death of a man aged in his 20s in a motorcycle accident as a coronavirus fatality. The case “was reviewed and he was taken off the list for Covid fatalities,” Kent Donahue, spokesman for Orange County Health Officer Dr Raul Pino, told Fox35, which initially broke the story after perusing lists of official Covid-19 victims provided by the state." Who knows how many more cases there are just like this. I don't trust the government's numbers at this point.
