It seems reasonable for different provinces to take different approaches, since their disease patterns vary significantly.
Ontario and Québec have endured many weeks of increasing numbers of diagnosed infections per day, whilst the other provinces have seen decreases.
The absolute incidences also vary between provinces, letting some test-and-trace cases more easily than others.
- Lewton 6y ago> Ontario and Québec have endured many weeks of increasing numbers of diagnosed infections per day Which would indicate that they -shouldn't- be reserving doses...
- dghughes 6y ago>..whilst the other provinces have seen decreases. Nova Scotia had a big jump mostly Halifax since it's the most populated part of the province.
- bryanlarsen 6y agoThat's interesting phrasing. Ontario & Québec have increasing numbers but they still have lower per capita case rates than western provinces.

- cmrdporcupine 6y agoAlberta's numbers over the holiday are nonsense. Hinshaw even said so herself.
- hawkesnest 6y agoI would think we have the models to try many different strategies to determine the "best" distribution methodology. Depending upon what the definition of "best" is, of course.
- cmrdporcupine 6y agoI would take Alberta's latest numbers with a giant grain of salt. Testing rates are awful there right now. Too bad my family there used the numbers as an excuse to break quarantine. Enraging.
- ahelwer 6y agoMy sister lives there and knows multiple people her age (mid 20s) who've had the coronavirus. To my knowledge I only know a single person here in the US who has had it. Seems bad.
- cmrdporcupine 6y agoAlberta is about the middle of the pack in North America for per-capita rates. Not as bad as the worst US states, but nowhere close to the good ones. Ontario, meanwhile is better than any US state other than Hawaii, last time I looked. However, if you look at per-capita death rates, Ontario does not look so good.
- colmvp 6y agoThe system seems kind of weird. My friend works at a hospital in one of those provinces and they are doing a quasi-lottery system to distribute the vaccine to their employees. Users have to login to a system, pick a time beginning at a certain time of day, and if there are no availability well tough luck. My friend was aghast that they weren't prioritizing employees most likely to intubate patients
