Git cake: when is my readme’s birthday?
- codetrotter 6y agoHow does it deal with renamed files? E.g. if you had originally a file named README.txt that you later have turned into Markdown format and renamed to README.md, which date will cake report? The date that the file was originally created as README.txt, or the date that the file was changed to markdown format and renamed to README.md?
- jamespwilliams 6y agoIf git is able to detect that the file was renamed - which it will if the only change to the file in the commit is the file’s name - it will work. I’m not sure whether this works if you also change the content of the file in the commit. Same logic applies to git blame; file history is maintained for renames.
