Man does Notion chug on large header images... it's not only me, right?
- markdown 6y agoWhat stupid, idiotic developers they have. Only the top 200 pixels of that photo are used on the page, yet they load this 4.5MB monstrosity: https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1518531933037-91b2f5f229cc?ixlib=rb-1.2.1&q=85&fm=jpg&crop=entropy&cs=srgb&w=4800 https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1518531933037-91b2f5f229cc... I mean, it's not hard to write code to crop the photo and only send the necessary portion over the wire. I should send Notion a bill for the four unnecessary megabytes. Not to mention 2MB of javascript :O WTF?
- packetlost 6y agoTo be fair, their desktop app doesn't struggle at all. I'm not sure exactly why this is performing so poorly.
- istorical 6y agoguidelines for HN comments: "Be kind. Don't be snarky. Have curious conversation; don't cross-examine. Please don't fulminate. Please don't sneer, including at the rest of the community. Comments should get more thoughtful and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive. When disagreeing, please reply to the argument instead of calling names. "That is idiotic; 1 + 1 is 2, not 3" can be shortened to "1 + 1 is 2, not 3.""
- markdown 6y agoI think I've given them all the kindness they deserve for the disrespect with which they treat me and everyone else who visits their website. It's clear they just completely lack empathy. The downvotes and your response only serves to embolden them and others of their ilk who treat with disdain anyone without the privilege of first-world internet.
